First day of summah

What do you do on your first day of summer?

1. SLEEP IN.

YUPP! 6:30 am baaabbyyyyy woo hooo!!!

2. Breakfast.

WAIT. You mean I can make my breakfast and eat it too??? AND watch tv?! I must be spoiled.

3. Walk.

I'm pretty sure everyone I passed wanted to punch me yesterday. I mean, this is what I thought I looked like:

Mind you, it was raining yesterday...so the reality was this:

4. Make dinner Set off the fire alarm

Probably one of the most exciting things that I was looking forward to! I had an amazing meal planned-pork chops with a basil and shallot dressing, sautéed mushrooms and asparagus....well...
yupp...let's just say there are always signs telling you what to do. Takeout anyone? #storyofmylife

Hope you all enjoy your dog days of summer.

Yours in no longer cooking,

Teacher turned nomad day 1

Today, I left my dream job.

I had THE job-eager students, ambitious learners, amazing coworkers...then why leave some ask? One word. Happiness.

Such a simple word yet a complicated feeling. Happiness...a mental or emotional state of well-being define by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. (Thank you, Wikipedia)

Here are some things I know that made me happy in my job: teaching, coaching, mentoring, learning, inspiring and molding young minds, being with my friends and family, working with the most amazing coworkers

Here are some things I know that made me NOT want to love my job: standardized testing, aggressive parents, passive aggressive emails, the growing demands of the teaching industry (is it really teaching anymore?), and wait...did I say parents? Yes, sometimes, parents make my life miserable. Not all. probably only 1% but omph that 1% rides high.

So again, why? Because I can.

Just like teaching, I knew I could and I did. Now for this next phase--because I can take this risk and I know that if my student was asking me for advice, I'd tell them to do the same thing. Opportunities come knocking on our doors all the time. The question is whether or not you are willing to jump and take that risk. Risks are easy-they come they go but YOU have to take that first plunge. You may float or you may sink-but you will never know if you do not try.

So today, I left my family-I left my family of six years and I will miss them all. Today, I said good bye to the closest people I have been with in my life and today, I am beginning this new journey in my life-and I have never felt more scared and excited all at the same time.

By the way--did I mention that school is officially out?!

Yours in new adventure,
